beautiful eyes for me
tonight she swims across time
scrapes kajal from a spoon
to etch my almond eyes
my only wish this dark night
to break the sky in breathless gasps
then dissipate in silence
like a shooting star

Taseer Gujral spent her formative years in Chandigarh, where she studied literature and proceeded to get a doctorate on the feminist poems of Adrienne Rich. Poetry excites her like a jigsaw puzzle where the right interconnections lead to wondrous pictures and imaginings. Some of her published works appear in E3W Literature and The Indian Express. She has lived in several parts of India and now resides with her family in Guwahati in Assam.
